This illustration depicts the façade of the parish church in Drwalew – a late Baroque temple designed by Jakub Fontana and built between 1768 and 1774. The parish dates back to the 15th century, but the current church was funded by the Zamoyski family. Its monumental and harmonious front draws attention with the regular rhythm of Tuscan pilasters, organising the five-axis elevation. The façade is horizontally divided by a string cornice and topped with a striking gable, crowned by a classical triangular pediment. A centrally placed turret with a spire completes the composition, adding a vertical accent. This is a mature example of Jakub Fontana’s style – where monumentality meets clarity and serenity of form.
