Kamienica Oleśnickich w Sandomierzu

In the very heart of the Sandomierz market square stands Kamienica Oleśnickich, a gem of Renaissance bourgeois architecture. The building’s history dates back to the 16th century, when it belonged to voivode Andrzej Leszczyński. After being damaged in 1757, it was rebuilt between 1770 and 1780, and later restorations restored its original appearance. The presumed architect of the townhouse was Fr. Józef Karśnicki (Karsznicki). This three-storey townhouse with arcades and an ornately decorated gable stands as a testament to the past and to architectural craftsmanship. The minimalist illustration style emphasises the spirit of Renaissance aesthetics. It faithfully captures architectural details of the building, including the elegant portal and decorative windows that draw the eye and give the structure its unique character.
