This illustration captures the front façade of the Palace on the Isle in Warsaw, a jewel of neoclassical architecture, built in the second half of the 18th century, as the summer residence of King Stanisław August Poniatowski. Originally a royal bath pavilion, transformed according to Domenico Merlini’s design, it became one of the best-known landmarks of Łazienki Park.
