Description

Former Ignacy Vogel Concert Hall, Łódź

This artwork presents the former Ignacy Vogel Concert Hall in Łódź- one of the city’s most important cultural venues at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Built between 1883 and 1886 to a design by architect Otto Albert Gehlig, at the initiative of entrepreneur Ignacy Vogel, the building stood at 18 Dzielna Street (today Narutowicza 20/22) and quickly became a hub for concerts and entertainment. It hosted artists such as Artur Rubinstein, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Tamara Karsavina.

The work captures the front façade- a classical, two-story structure with a rhythmic arrangement of windows highlighted by pilasters and cornices. The first floor contained a grand concert hall with the city’s largest stage, while the ground floor housed restaurants, cabarets, and dance halls. Both the exterior and interiors reflected the prestige and European character of the venue.

Although the original Hall was closed in 1987 and demolished in 1999, its legacy continues in the new Łódź Philharmonic Building, opened in 2004, which carries forward nearly 140 years of musical history at this location.

  • Rich in detail– captures the façade, classical proportions, and historic interiors.
  • History preserved– a visual reminder of concerts, performances, and cultural events.
  • Stylish accent– a unique addition to elegant interiors.
