Rotunda

The PKO Rotunda is one of the most iconic buildings in Warsaw, considered a symbol of post-war modernism and the architectural transformation of the 20th century. Designed by architect Jerzy Jakubowicz and built between 1960 and 1966, it has drawn attention from the start with its unique round form, crowned with a jagged roof- nicknamed the “general’s cap”.

The building is an integral part of the Eastern Wall- a modernist architectural and urban complex along Marszałkowska Street, constructed between 1960 and 1969. In 2003, it was listed as a contemporary cultural heritage site, recognised as a valuable example of Polish modernism in the urban landscape.
