Hotel Warszawa, formerly known as Prudential, is one of the most iconic architectural landmarks in Warsaw. Designed by architect Marcin Weinfeld, it was built between 1931 and 1933 as the city’s first skyscraper. The structure exemplified pure functionalism- a simple cuboid form accentuated by geometric pilasters and a stepped narrowing of the upper floors.

Severely damaged during World War II, the building was rebuilt between 1950 and 1953 in a socialist realist style, featuring caryatids and other decorative elements. Between 2010 and 2018 (with a one-year break), a full renovation was carried out. The tower was stripped of its socialist realist details- the columned portico with stone herms and balustrades was removed, along with the Warsaw crest and caryatids. In November 2018, the building reopened as the five-star Hotel Warszawa, restoring its former glory in a modern interpretation.
